Thank you for considering Caring Transitions of Mechanicsburg! Whether your situation is planned or unexpected, our services are perfect for busy families, seniors moving in with family or into a safer living situation, or people clearing out the home of a loved one who has passed.

I’m Carolyn Doerr and I own this local business, which I started with my daughter Corinne Skidmore. After my husband died in 2012, I was unexpectedly faced with downsizing and moving. I was lucky enough to have family nearby who could help, but I know that not everyone is that lucky. Caring Transitions is here to help seniors and busy families move, relocate, downsize and liquidate estates. We want to take on those tasks so you can avoid the emotional burden and spend time with your loved ones.
I grew up in Toms River, New Jersey, before relocating to Pennsylvania in the early 1990s. I earned a BA in journalism from Kent State University and completed courses toward an MBA in marketing management from Benedictine University. I’ve worked in corporate communications and marketing for the past 20 years, the last eight of which were in the senior services and living industries.
This business combines my love of organization, skills and experience in moving and relocation, and my passion for working in senior services. The services offered by Caring Transitions are a real need in this area and across the country. Even those who really want to move into a more comfortable living situation look around their house and just don’t know where to start. It can be emotional and overwhelming, but Caring Transitions can turn the move into a positive experience.
Along with working and spending time with Corinne, her husband Robert and their two children, I volunteer as a manager at Seaside Home, a non-profit, Christian retreat for underprivileged women and children in Cape May, NJ. Corinne, now full-time in the Army, works as a Cryptologic Language Analyst of the Arabic language for the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland.
